SILKY FUDGE
(a yummy treat for your own food treasure adventures!)
Ingredients:
4 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 cup evaporated milk
3 cups sugar
3 T. corn syrup
1/8 t. salt
3 T. butter
1-1/2 t. vanilla
1 cup pecans (optional
Procedure:
Combine chocolate and milk in pot on low heat, stirring until chocolate is melted. Stir in sugar, salt & corn syrup until sugar dissolves. Cook stirring until mixture reaches soft ball stage, 234-240 degrees, or until a small amount dropped into a glass of cold water forms a soft ball. Add butter. Let it sit until lukewarm. Add vanilla and nuts (if desired) and beat until mixture thickens and looses its gloss. Then spoon quickly into 8 x 8-inch pan. Slice when cool.
CARAMEL PEANUT CLUSTERS
Great for kids and adults alike!
Ingredients:
1 cup peanuts, shelled
2 cups sugar
½ cup butter
2 cups evaporated milk
¾ cup corn syrup
Procedure:
Butter or spray with Butter Spray 8 x 8-inch pan. Spread peanuts onto pan. Cook sugar, butter, evaporated milk and corn syrup to the soft ball stage, 234 to 240 degrees, or when a small amount dropped into a glass of water forms a soft ball. Spread cooked mixture over top of peanuts and chill. Slice into small squares and enjoy!
HOLIDAY PECAN PIE
(they’ll be hoping for this every year after you bring this pie the first time!)
Ingredients:
1-1/2 cup pecan halves
3 eggs beaten
1 cup corn syrup
3 T. butter
1 t. vanilla flavoring
½ t. almond flavoring
¼ t. salt
1 premade pie shell, graham or pastry
Procedure:
Melt butter and combine with eggs, corn syrup, vanilla, almond, and salt. Gently stir in pecan halves. Spoon mixture into prepared pie shell and bake at 350 for 40 to 45 minutes. Delicious!
